Our team brings nearly three decades of combined experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, and fundraising, with expertise in supporting conservation and climate advocacy, local food movements, and arts & cultural organizations. Throughout that time, we have developed strategies and led campaigns reaching diverse audiences across urban-rural geography, demographics, and ideological spectrums.
But what sets Bold Bison apart is that we see ourselves not just as consultants, but also as active members of these movements. We leverage our cross-sector expertise not only to inform communications strategies, but also to share insights and make connections that unite and propel these movements forward.
Conservation and Climate Advocacy
Through our respective careers and together at Bold Bison, our team has consistently stewarded communications, and overseen marketing and fundraising campaigns for conservation-minded organizations as they navigate a period not only of ecological crisis, social and political divides, and the rapidly accelerating impacts of climate change, but also of tremendous environmental awareness and advocacy; of increased use and appreciation for the outdoors; and of greater ability to reach and inspire audiences locally, nationally, and around the globe to act for nature.
Local Food Movements
Local food is more a single dimensional “issue” – rather, it’s an entire framework for evaluating and reprioritizing public health, community wealth and wellbeing, equity, and justice. We bring deep sector knowledge gained through facilitating some of the Chicago region’s largest local food initiatives. Having supported local food on all scales from garden education programs to region-wide policy and advocacy, our experience in the sector is defined by uniting key funders, influencers, and policymakers with many growers, producers, community organizations, non-profits, and urban farms working to create a thriving and equitable local food system.
Arts & Cultural Organizations
Both Brandon Hayes and Patrick Williams bring professional backgrounds in arts and cultural institutions, including extensive time working with. We have advised on program strategy and expansion, worked in partnership to develop thoughtful communications strategies and messages, promoted marquee exhibitions and performances, and produced virtual events. Our hands-on approach to communications helps arts & culture organizations reimagine their storytelling and reinvent their outreach efforts.
